Regional Implications of Sea Level Rise for the Atlantic and Gulf Coastal Plain

This study is a look at the upstream implications of sea level rise and its impact on estuaries and watersheds through several proposed interventions. It also focuses on the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. It is a prelude to Hamm’s explanation of his proposed “Habitable Adaptations” for sea level rise as shown on the Rural–Urban-Ocean transect, found also in this Climate Change Section of the Resilience Studio website. To create more environmentally resilient communities, detailed analysis needs to be made of watershed management and water movement across a region. Many areas operate without knowledge of their threats. There is keen need  for communities to gain insight to enhance their environmental resilience and protect themselves from devastating storms and sea level rise.
